Speciality
There is no idol of the deity in the temple. Devotees offer worship and prayers and make sacred offerings to this stone. The sacred stone is believed to have emerged from a brick that split open.

There is a place where the Brahmin priests read the Vedas for 48 days, which is a sandy patch. But the spot where they read the Vedas is filled with red soil.
Legend
According to legend, Brahmins found a spring near Vedharanyam several decades ago, where they took sweet water to anoint God for worship. One day, they were surprised to see a magical light emerge from the sky and merge with the water. One spoke about this miracle to his fellow beings and immediately lost his eyesight.
Fearful, the group of Brahmins with the blind man went to the spring and again saw the magic light. They begged for forgiveness, and the blind man immediately regained his sight. The Brahmins realized the land was highly encouraging, placed a brick on it, and offered a goat. The light from the sky became fully absorbed in the brick, which went deep into the earth.
A shining black stone emerged from the spot that has been worshipped till today. The devotees regard the stone as Kali Theertha Ayya.
